Beirut protestors call on PM to resign

Hundreds of thousands of opponents of Lebanon’s western-backed government took over the centre of the capital on Friday, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Fouad Siniora and the formation of a government of national unity.

The crowd, spilling over into several squares and streets, was kept away from government offices by lines of soldiers, barbed wire and army vehicles.
