Varig still flying solo after auction

The future of Varig, Brazil’s flag-carrying airline under creditor protection from debts of about R$8bn (US$3.6bn), remained in the balance on Thursday after its auction ended in uncertainty.

Varig’s shares fell 23 per cent in São Paulo after the auction.
