Call to cut data roaming costs in Europe

Mobile phone operators face a new attack on their revenue in Europe after the UK telecoms regulator expressed concern about “extremely high” prices paid by consumers and business people for web surfing on their mobiles while abroad.

Ofcom, the UK media and telecoms regulator, is urging operators to cut their roaming prices inside the European Union for wireless data services such as e-mail and web surfing or risk being forced to do so through legislation.
