ABB set to unveil $1bn third-quarter profits

ABB said on Monday it would report higher than expected net profits of about $1bn when it reveals third quarter earnings next week, but warned of new provisions for business in Russia.

The earnings upgrade stemmed from the Swiss-Swedish electrical engineering group’s decision to release provisions of about $380m, after reviewing likely commitments for compliance, tax and restructuring.
