Asia dispatch: Deference capitulates to contention

Despite Asia’s heterogeneity, shareholder activism is finally taking root – and achieving results.

The slow and steady rise of activism has been most noticeable in Japan, home to the world’s second-largest economy. This is not least because investors are fighting a corporate system in which shareholders’ wishes are typically not the prime focus of entrenched management.
