Australia reaches out to stricken neighbours

Bells rang out and prayers were said at churches around Australia on Sunday as the country struggled to come to terms with the tsunami disaster.

As of Sunday, 12 Australians had been confirmed dead by the foreign ministry, but officials warned the death toll was likely to rise sharply in the coming days and weeks.
