US-Peru deal seen as ‘a breakthrough’

The proposed US-Peru trade agreement represents more than a somewhat limited deal with one of America’s smaller trading partners.

“I don’t use the word ‘model’, but this is a major breakthrough in terms of worker rights and the environment,” Sander Levin, who chairs the ways and means trade subcommittee in the House of Representatives, told the FT.
