Cross-border bank rescues ‘insufficient’

Arrangements to handle cross-border bank failures in Europe are “clearly insufficient” and must be bolstered, senior European Union officials warned on Tuesday.

The European Commission opened a three-month consultation on how to improve Europe’s handling of cross-border banking crises by warning that the existing system is inadequate for stabilising and controlling the systemic impact of such failures.
