Potter magic helps Bloomsbury amass £50m cash

The success of the sixth book in the Harry Potter series has left Bloomsbury Publishing with a cash pile of about £50m, analysts said yesterday, after the company confirmed that pre-tax profit would exceed £20m in the year to December.

In an update ahead of its preliminary results in April, Bloomsbury said trading had been good during the past three months of 2005 and the full-year results should be in line with expectations.
