Room rates: How to get the best hotel deals

General Electric’s employees take 135,000 business trips each year – and those are just the ones based in Europe. Their combined spending gives the company immense purchasing power with hotels and other suppliers.

Not every business traveller works for a GE, however. Many are self-employed or in small companies with little leverage to negotiate discounts from hotels. Yet that should not prevent a traveller from finding a decent rate for a night’s accommodation, especially with the internet providing access to numerous options. The dilemma for the traveller is knowing where to find the best price without wasting a day on bargain-hunting.
