With commodity prices at record highs as a growing world population puts raw materials under ever-greater strain, Liverpool University hopes it is sitting on a goldmine. Its £9.6m ($17.5m) Centre for Materials Discovery, unveiled this year, aims to help industry find a new generation of raw materials for energy storage, medical equipment and consumer products.
