AP crackdown on website piracy

The Associated Press will take “all actions necessary” to pursue websites that use its members’ content without paying for it, the consortium said on Monday, in the latest effort by newspaper owners to claw back the ground they have lost online.

“We can no longer stand by and watch others walk off with our work under misguided legal theories. We are mad as hell, and we are not going to take it any more,” Dean Singleton, chairman of the AP and chief executive of MediaNews told the AP annual meeting in San Diego.
