Thai officers charged over Saudi gems

Five Thai policemen have been charged in connection with a long-running case involving the theft of jewellery worth $20m from a Saudi prince, the gunning down of diplomats on the streets of Bangkok and a kidnapping.

The five men, including a regional police chief, deny charges of kidnapping and killing Mohammad al Ruwaili, a Saudi businessman who was connected with the investigation into the jewel heist.
