Grainger, the UK’s largest listed residential landlord, joined the list of property companies asking investors to back a rights issue, aiming to raise £238m to pay down debt and position it for a housing revival.
Grainger hopes to return to buying in the residential market, which has seen recent price growth. Although analysts are divided about whether this recovery will be sustained, Grainger wants again to build its trading book after selling during the property downturn.
