Jones ‘worked on plan to take JJB private’

Sir David Jones, chairman of JJB Sports, worked with Chris Ronnie on a project to privatise the sportswear retailer just months before sacking him, it has emerged, raising new questions about their relationship and the direction of the company.

When the retail magnate, who turned round Next, joined JJB’s board this year he blamed Mr Ronnie, the former chief executive, for the company’s demise.
