Japan’s deep recession is having a severe impact on the country’s 4.2m small and medium-sized businesses.

“Since the autumn, the situation has deteriorated dramatically,” says Toshimitsu Fujiki, director of the financial section of the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
