Oil drill blamed for fatal Java mudflow

Indonesian police investigating a mudflow in East Java that has been gushing up to 200,000 cubic metres of boiling sludge daily since last May announced on Thursday they believe it was caused by poor management of an oil drilling operation.

Major General Herman Suryadi, the East Java provincial police chief, said it was now up to prosecutors to determine whether to take action against the 13 people investigators have declared as suspects.
