Anurag Dikshit’s statement to the court:
“Between 1999 and 2006 I was a major shareholder and director of PartyGaming, a company that offers casino and poker games over the internet on which customers can wager. My primary role in the company was developing the software platform used by PartyGaming and directing its operations. I was aware that wagers transmitted by wire were being placed by PartyGaming’s customers in the US and that a substantial majority of PartyGaming’s customers were located in the US, including in Manhattan. I learned that the position of the Department of Justice was that the business of PartyGaming violated the Wire Act. I also knew it violated certain state laws. Over the period of time ending in October 2006, I came to believe there was a high probability that the company’s business was in fact illegal under US law. In coming to court today, I acknowledge full responsibility for my actions and now understand that what I did was wrong.”
