Dollar heads towards record low

The dollar started the week on the back foot on Monday, edging back towards its record low against the euro as worries over the health of the US economy persisted.

In volatile, holiday-thinned trade on Friday, the dollar fell to a record low against the single currency, before pulling back sharply as traders covered their positions after European Central Bank council members expressed concerns over “brutal” price developments in the currencies market.
