Transcripts of intercepts weigh on Bolton's UN hopes

The National Security Agency has recommended giving transcripts of intercepted conversations mentioning US officials to the Senate committee considering John Bolton's nomination as ambassador to the United Nations.

John Negroponte, the director of national intelligence, is considering whether to provide the Senate foreign relations committee with the intercepts, according to a congressional aide and a source close to the committee.
