Bosnia takes a step closer to EU entry

In a move to contain Balkan tensions, the European Union will on Tuesday initial a pre-accession agreement with Bosnia-Herzegovina, after the country's rival ethnic leaders agreed on a set of reforms.

Muslim, Serb and Croatian parties have adopted an "action plan" for police reform - the main obstacle to beginning the process of integration with the 27member bloc. The stabilisation and association agreement is the first step towards eventual EU membership.
