Barclays has avoided paying out to settle a class action brought by the shareholders of Enron after a US court dismissed the claims against the UK bank.

Barclays said on Friday that the US district court for the southern district of Texas Houston division had dismissed claims brought in the Enron class action, which has brought a variety of claims against banks alleged to have aided the energy company’s executives in executing or covering up a massive accounting fraud.
