MPs to decide fate of public service TV

Potential changes to the public service obligations of Channel 4 and the BBC will be left in the hands of parliament by Ofcom when it unveils its latest recommendations on Tuesday.

The media regulator is expected to rule out the possibility that it could attempt to force changes to the rules governing the state-owned broadcasters, saying any reforms should be decided by MPs. That includes any changes to their respective funding formulas.
