Medvedev orders probe into state companies

Dmitry Medvedev has ordered a probe into the activities of Russia’s state-owned companies as pressure mounts over the government’s handling of the economy that shrank 10 per cent in the first half of the year.

The corporations, many of which were set up in the last year of Vladimir Putin’s presidency, have swallowed up tens of billions of roubles of state funds.
