US home resales and prices climb in June

Sales of existing US homes climbed in June for the third month running as rising foreclosures, government tax breaks and record affordability continue to lure buyers back to the market, lifting hopes that the stricken sector is bottoming.

Separately, official figures showed on Thursday that the number of US workers claiming unemployment benefits rose last week, as companies continue to shave workers from their payrolls.
