Appointment sparks speculation of C&C sale

C&C, the Irish drinks group, could be put up for sale after John Dunsmore was appointed as its new chief executive.

Mr Dunsmore, who was appointed to the top job at brewer Scottish & Newcastle a few weeks before it received an unsolicited takeover approach late last year, takes the helm of C&C after Maurice Pratt resigned last month following a profits warning.
