Hain admits failure to declare donations

Peter Hain was fighting to save his political career on Thursday after failing to declare more than £100,000 of donations to his Labour deputy leadership campaign.

The work and pensions secretary admitted that he should have given “higher personal priority” to running his campaign, which breached electoral law by declaring less than half of the money it raised.
