Barroso attacks Moscow on human rights

José Manuel Barroso, European Commission president angered Vladimir Putin on Friday when he expressed concern about human rights after a journalist and a human rights lawyer were killed last month on a Moscow street.

In a press conference during a visit to Moscow on Friday he sparred with the Russian prime minister, a sign that relations between Russia and the European Union remain tense following the January gas crisis which left large parts of Europe without heat for days.
