Royal Mail satisfied with season service

Royal Mail said its Christmas deliveries had gone smoothly but admitted shortcomings in the quality of the postal service, including the number of first class letters arriving the next day.

This was to be expected over the Christmas period, when volumes rose sharply and the system was under strain, the postal group said.
