One-stop legal shops set to give lawyers more freedom

Lawyers will be given much greater freedom in the way they run their businesses under plans to sweep away the rules banning solicitors' from practising with other professionals, taking on outside investors and floating on the stock market.

The proposals laid out yesterday by Lord Falconer, the lord chancellor, are set to transform the face of the £19bn legal sector in England and Wales, making it one of the least restricted in the world.
