At least eight people were killed and many wounded in a terror attack on a Jewish seminary in Jerusalem on Thursday, shattering hopes that the region could put an end to the recent spike in violence and killings and allow Israeli and Palestinian leaders to resume peace talks.

At least one gunman entered the religious college and opened fire with an assault rifle, before he himself was shot dead by an Israeli army officer who rushed to the scene.
