Finmeccanica, the Italian defence and industrial group, is set to clinch a €560m ($764m) contract to supply a fleet of helicopters to India's president and other government members. The company, which beat US rival Sikorsky, will build the 12 AgustaWestland 101 helicopters at its plant in Yeovil in the UK.
The contract, expected to be announced this week, will give Finmeccanica a firm foothold in the fast-growing Indian defence market.
