Tories to pay top teachers’ loans

The Conservatives will pay the student loans of top science and maths teachers, if the party is elected, to boost teaching quality in an area regarded by the corporate world as key to England’s economic future.

The Tory promise addresses one of the most common laments of business leaders – that too many people leave school without a good basic knowledge of maths and science, and too few go on to do it at university. The measure aims to redress this through encouraging more good teachers into the profession.
