Israeli army moves into Gaza City

A United Nations aid official on Tuesday called for better protection of civilians in Gaza as Israel extended its 18-day campaign into built-up areas of Gaza City and sent thousands of reserve soldiers into the Hamas-controlled territory.

John Ging, director of operations in Gaza for UNRWA, the UN Relief and Works Agency, also called for an investigation into allegations that Israeli military forces may have used illegal weapons.
