The International Petroleum Exchange, the custodian of the Brent crude oil futures contract, said its benchmark contract struck record volumes this week, rising almost 90 per cent from the daily average before the London exchange moved to fully electronic trading in April.
IPE, owned by the Intercontinental Exchange in Atlanta, said Brent volumes reached 185,144 contracts on Tuesday, exceeding the previous record of 181,182 contracts last September.
