Court strips Le Figaro owner of mayoral post

Serge Dassault, one of France’s richest men, was stripped of his position as mayor of a Paris suburb on Monday after the highest administrative court found that he had made cash payments to voters.

Mr Dassault, former chairman of Dassault Aviation and owner of Le Figaro newspaper, was also barred from holding local elected office for one year by the Conseil d’Etat.
