S Korean technology companies fill skills vacuum

A shortage of highly-skilled researchers and engineers and a growing need for a bigger research and development workforce is seeing an increasing number of South Korean companies turn to foreign talent to maintain their leadership in the information and technology industry.

"We are seeing some mismatches of supply and demand," says Lee Jae-hoon of the Korea Industrial Technology Foundation. "Many of our engineers are going abroad to work and we are consequently seeing an increasing demand here for foreign engineers."
