EU backs Britain’s stance on Russia

Britain on Wednesday night won a significant expression of support from the European Union over its stance on the investigation surrounding the murder of Alexander Litvinenko after the EU demanded “urgent” co-operation from Russia.

“The EU expresses its disappointment at Russia’s failure to co-operate constructively with the UK authorities,” the Portuguese presidency of the EU said in a statement, which called for “constructive co-operation on the matter”.
