BMW to quit Formula One

BMW on Wednesday dealt a blow to Formula One when the world’s largest premium carmaker said it would quit the sport at the end of this season, a decision that reflected cost-cutting across the global car industry.

The German company is the second high-profile team to leave the world’s top motor racing series in the past year. Honda, the Japanese carmaker, quit in December amid the deep slump facing the car industry.
