EU drug industry to clamp down on repackaging for sale abroad

The European pharmaceutical industry is to attempt to curb the role of intermediaries who buy its products in low-cost markets and resell them at a profit where prices are higher, by pushing to ban the repackaging of medicines.

Arthur Higgins, head of Bayer Healthcare and president of the industry's European trade association, told the FT he planned to strengthen "the integrity and transparency of our drug supply chain" as one of his top priorities.
