The bloodshed in Syria has forced many to flee their homes and take shelter in neighbouring countries. Official figures show that over one million people have fled across the country’s borders, although the actual number is thought to be much higher. There are at least two million internally displaced people within Syria, according to the UN.

This interactive graphic profiles key towns where clashes have taken place and shows how many refugees have fled to neighbouring Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq.
