Pension costs hit public services reforms

Reform of public services and the trimming of government spending through increased outsourcing are being held back by public sector pension costs, according to the CBI employers’ group.

Rising public pension liabilities were deterring companies in the £80bn market for privatised public services from bidding for public contracts, the CBI said.
