UK trade deficit falls to lowest since 2006

The UK trade deficit in goods fell to its lowest level since 2006 in August, in a sign that an upturn in global trade may allow British exporters to take advantage of the weaker pound.

The deficit narrowed from £6.4bn to £6.2bn, compared with more than £8bn a year earlier.
