EU fights flight data deal with US

The European parliament on Thursday renewed its battle to limit US authorities’ access to information on travellers flying to the US from the European Union, as the EU executive began talks with Washington to replace a controversial data-sharing deal.

The EU and US are scrambling to forge a new accord on sharing passenger data after the EU’s top court in May struck down the agreement and ordered that it expire on September 30.
