Overview: Commodities driven higher by recovery signs

A rise in US Treasury bond yields to new highs this year increasingly weighed on Wall Street on Wednesday, overshadowing earlier gains for Asian and European equities.

Fresh indications of an improvement in the global economic backdrop boosted commodity prices, but the mood in New York remained dour after the Federal Reserve’s Beige Book showed that economic conditions remained weak.
