Slowing sales dent China’s car market

The Chinese car market, the world’s second largest, had its worst year in a decade in 2008, with annual passenger car sales rising only 7.3 per cent, according to preliminary figures released on Monday by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

More dismal news from the Chinese car market is expected to spur Beijing to announce measures like further tax cuts and support for energy-efficient vehicles.
