BME to overhaul trading system

The Spanish stock exchange on Thursday said it would overhaul its trading system in an apparent sign that it is preparing for competition from the same alternative platforms that have ravaged the market share of its larger European rivals.

Bolsa y Mercados Espanoles (BME) said the overhaul would allow trades to be done on a “sub-millisecond” basis, bringing it line with most of its global peers.
