FSA proposes full disclosure of short positions

All short sellers should have to disclose their positions, according to proposals from the UK’s City regulator that it hopes will be considered by its international counterparts.

The Financial Services Authority on Friday said it favoured the adoption of a system where all net short positions, worth at least 0.5 per cent of the outstanding stock, would be disclosed to the market.
