Unionen raises stake in Norske Skog

Norwegian activist investors have built a strategic stake in struggling Norske Skog, the world’s second-largest newsprint producer, and have called a general meeting to halt the company’s planned capacity cuts.

The move demonstrates that some investors believe that the slide in paper company shares has gone far enough and that there is now significant upside potential, particularly if the industry embarks on another round of mergers.
