Chile and Argentina brace for crisis

Chile has unveiled an $850m package to keep credit flowing to small exporters, and Argentina is stepping up customs controls to protect local firms from a feared flood of cheap imports.

The moves aimed to protect each nation’s economy from the fallout of the global financial crisis.
